Day 6, January 16
I am awakened by the noise of the construction site vehicles that are piling up the road here to lay a new water pipe. I have breakfast and drive towards the Peak District. A former colleague lives not far from there and we said that I will come to them in the late afternoon. It started to rain and – although it is now extinct – you realize how touristy this area is. Somehow I can not quite get used to having to pay for parking everywhere, even in the middle of the forest. In the afternoon I drive to my colleague. I’m overwhelmed, a house on a hill, I do not know how many rooms, stylishly furnished. Alone the dining room and the conservatory are larger than my apartment. We spend a fun evening and refresh some memories of our time together.
